Why we recommend tldraw

tldraw is what you get when canvas engineering is treated as a craft: the drawing feel — snapping, arrows that bind to shapes, perfect freehand strokes — is best-in-class, and the whole thing loads instantly with multiplayer available by sharing the URL. Its second life as an SDK is telling: many products' whiteboard features are tldraw under the hood. The 'make real' AI experiments (sketch a UI, get working code) showed how far a canvas primitive can stretch.

Best use cases

Best for: spontaneous diagramming during a call when you need a shared canvas in five seconds, quick technical sketches embedded into docs, and developers building canvas features into their own apps on the SDK rather than reinventing selection, undo and multiplayer sync.

Honest limitations

Deliberately minimal: no template library, org-chart smarts or facilitation features (voting, timers) that Miro workshops rely on. Persistence of anonymous shared rooms is best-effort — export anything you need to keep. Complex multi-page design work belongs in a design tool, not here.
