Notion
FreeAll-in-one workspace combining notes, databases, wikis and project boards. Pages are built from composable blocks, and the free personal plan covers unlimited pages and blocks for individuals.
Why we recommend Notion
Notion won the notes-plus-databases war by making one primitive — the block — do everything: a paragraph, a kanban card, a database row, an embedded page. That composability is why teams end up running their entire wiki, CRM and sprint board in it without ever choosing a 'project management tool'. The free plan is genuinely usable for individuals (unlimited pages, 30-day version history), and the template ecosystem means most workflows already exist ready-made.
Best use cases
Best for: a personal knowledge base that gradually grows into structured databases, lightweight team wikis, content calendars with linked views, and meeting notes that link back to projects. The database views (table, board, timeline, calendar) over one source of data are the killer feature for editorial and product workflows.
Honest limitations
Offline support is still weak — pages you have not opened recently may not load without a connection. Large databases (thousands of rows) get sluggish, and the flexibility is a double-edged sword: without discipline, workspaces rot into page sprawl. Real-time co-editing is solid but not Google-Docs-fast.
